According to this article, Lynn Ann Maker used her psychic abilities to find the body of a missing man. 30 year old Greg Wallace disappeared after heading off to work one morning. His car was found abandoned near a pond. Let’s hear about the amazing work Ms Maker did:
For reasons Maker can’t fully explain, she felt the need to wade into a nearby pond in an area police had already searched.
For reasons she can’t explain? Maybe because the pond was near the abandoned car? Maybe because drowning is not an uncommon cause of death? Maybe because if a body can’t be found it’s likely to be buried or submerged? No of course it can’t be any of those things, it must be because she had a spooky feeling:
“I kept feeling he was near the car,” she said, which led her to the nearby lake.
Such incredible insight, she must be psychic, right? If a man had gone missing, and you found his car near a lake, where would you look?
On Maker’s Mystical Touch Web site, the 33-year-old psychic offers services as a medium, a palm reader and a “psychic detective” specializing in murder and missing persons investigations. She describes herself as a “psychometrist,” meaning she has to touch personal items to receive her visions.
It’s funny, I’ve searched around and can’t find any other success stories involving Lynn Ann Maker, and yet she claims to specialize in murder and missing persons investigations. I thought maybe her website (UPDATE: site is now dead) would have more incredible success stories, so I went and had a look around. The main page is “under construction” with no links, but digging a bit deeper I found a couple of other pages. Her services page says:
What I do is provide closure for families and law enforcement when ever possible. I feel there is nothing to loose. If I can’t find the person or solve the cold case, then what is lost. Nothing would of changed, But if I can assist in solving a cold case or find a missing person, then there is closure! That is why I do what I do! Closure for people!
Bad spelling, awful grammar, and a penchant for exclamation! Still no sign of any other success stories though, no evidence of her psychic abilities at work. What about the News page? That only has two articles about Greg Wallace. Maybe all her other articles are archived somewhere? Or maybe there aren’t any.
Her About Me page is so badly written that I can’t bring myself to quote any of it. Needless to say it doesn’t contain anything concrete.
Finally I found her References page. Now I must’ve hit the gold, right? Now I’ll find all the contact information for all of this incredible psychic’s successes. Wait, I just see another article about Greg Wallace, I don’t understand.
After exploring Maker’s credentials, I think I have to agree with the FBI agent on the case, so I’ll leave you with his words:
Gary Rothwell, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Perry office, confirmed that Maker found the body, but added, “In my opinion, it’s a coincidence.”
UPDATE: She updated her site today. She even approved my comment to her guestbook (sadly with the link removed, I wonder why?) It still doesn’t have any useful content though.
as a chronic poor speller, I must come to the defense of ms. whats-her-name … why is it that bad spelling always trumps psychic abilities? spelling, good writing and “Psychometry, Empathy, Intuition” have little connection. psychics and seers may be too busy seeing the future, or past, to run a spell-check, or proof their copy…
Bad spelling in a blog or journal is excusable, but if you’re promoting a business, whether that business is psychic investigation or software development, good spelling and grammar are paramount.
Having said that, my main point about her page is that it has no credible content to back up her claims.
I wanted to tell you, very nice article. I read it and don’t mind you having your own point of view. Thank you for bringing up my bad spelling, that has been a problem my whole life. I am a lot better then I was a few years back though, so, I know there is hope for me. I don’t mind your skepticism. I deal with it all the time. I also am not out to prove my self to you or any other. I do what I can for people and I am human. I make mistakes all the time. I don’t claim to be psychic that is what others call me because that is what they can understand. I have a gift. Again I am not out to prove nothing. It doesnt faze me one bit if you or the whole world don’t believe that I have a gift. It does matter to me if the family that contacts me to help them does have some faith in my ability. I have worked on other cases. I also learned from Georgia to sign a confidentiality form. so I don’t have to go through the news and proving my self to people like you. You have a real talent for writing. I did like it though. keep up the great work. Also the first time i never got your link, the second time I did. but I do not alow urls in my guest book sorry. But good luck to you. I wish you nothing but the best. Take care, and by the way, I would love to talk you sometime, would be great fun to debate and exchange opinions. take care and God Bless!
Hi Lynn,
Thanks for dropping by. As you can see, I can have URIs in my comments, and yours is there for all to see. I’m not sure why you can’t have them in your guest book, after all they are just text.
I’m still trying to find all the other success stories to back up your claim to be a specialist in murder and missing persons investigations. What other cases have you helped to solve? Which law enforcement agencies have you worked with?
You know for a great writer and wonderful speller, you have a serious issue when it comes comprehension. I am not out looking to prove my claim. I stated to you prior that I sign confidentiality forms now and don’t wish to be known. The only reason I posted the story, was for reference to families or any one that needed help. You can search all you want and good luck to you. I do show families and people that hire me, the other cases I do work and have worked on. Then it is pertinent. This isn’t. I don’t mind your viewpoint, as everyone is entitled to there own beliefs. I don’t judge any one. Also about my guest book, I don’t post them. It isn’t because I can’t it is because I wont, for no one. It is not professional. You are posting because it has to do with your article but having people posting their urls in my guest book isn’t in my eyes. You are free to do what ever you like with your site, as so can I. Well I hope you only the best. Take care and God Bless!
Hi Lynn, glad to see you’re still checking back here.
I believe you’re being disingenuous with your answers. You have posted one news article on your site (I have no idea what you mean by “for reference”, what else would you post articles for?), so why not post information about other successes you’ve had? It seems to me you would either post all the information you have, or none of it. If you were truly solving murder and missing person cases all over the place, you should be announcing it to the world, who wouldn’t want an asset like that?
You are promoting a business are you not? Usually when one promotes a business, one provides as much information as possible to bring in new clients. Or is it that you only want credulous clients who don’t need evidence to back up a claim?
I am not out to promote my business. If clients come they come. My web site is not like any other site because it portrays me, like a personal web site. I don’t need to promote anything. My business consists of my gift and me. If I can truly help people then that is what I am all for. I never got paid to go to Georgia, it was a self-funded trip and I drove for 17 hours to get there. So is that business? No that is a personal trip. It is not my fault what all was said in the papers. I did not go seek it. When I got back from Georgia it was already here in Iowa and I was being asked to do interviews. The only reason I did talk at that time was to straighten out the story that they heard. which I shouldn’t of done, but did, Not for money, not to be noticed, I learned a lot in not talking to the news and media. So, no, I am not promoting a business and not out to prove anything. If people don’t want my help that is fine, if they do, then I will. I guess I should change calling my business a business and call it a Hobby. Would that make you feel better? I don’t really care how I get my name out there to help people. That is my only goal, to truly help people. I have the article on there for people that may want to know if I have done anything like it before. REFERENCE ONLY. And why hide that, if it is all over the news anyway. I will not go through that again. I do not state anything here I wouldn’t state on my own site. I have changed my site about 20 times because I didn’t feel comfortable with what I posted. I tried to listen to others that tried to point me in a more professional direction. Doing readings and more psychic stuff, which I did not feel comfortable with. I am not psychic but that is what people call my gift. I don’t really know what to call my gift either. I do have a gift. It was not easy to come out and be ridiculed because of it. I am not a fortune teller, tried that, that isn’t for me. I love to help people and if I am using my gift in a good way then I am happy. I am a Christian and did struggle my whole life with this gift and it being against what I believe. If I could choose not to have it, I would. If I don’t use it, it is still there anyway. So I am tired of wasting it. If I can in fact help someone and if I am doing good then where is the wrong in that. Most of the time I don’t get paid much or nothing at all. I have a good heart and most people I work with don’t have a lot of money and I have found it hard to say no, If I know they truly need help and if I can help, I will help. So I really should change it to hobby.
Yes I do come back and I have read other articles here. You are a really good writer! I stated a fact. Why wouldn’t I come back? You state who wouldn’t post all this stuff they do. I wouldn’t. Because it is my private business and drags families through the news, it isn’t very fun for them or for me. You know I am not all seeing and all knowing, I am human above all things. you can take it as you wish. You will anyways. God Bless and Take care to you and yours!
You say your website is not like any other website, but that’s what it looks like to me. You are offering your services, and portraying yourself as a business (currently a psychometric business, soon to be combined with a PI business). If you don’t need to promote anything, why are you promoting it? You are using a Yahoo! Small Business webpage service to promote your small business. Your services page discusses fees. How is that like a personal website?
Maybe it would make more sense to call it a hobby, but of course you then might run into legal difficulties if you charge money for your services. I also doubt law enforcement agencies will deal with hobbyist PIs.
I hope your PI business works out for you. Why don’t you try it without the psychic mumbo jumbo?
Thank-You, I will do that!
I am also psychic. I discovered my gift a few months ago. I went out and bought books and cds to untap my ability and strengthen it.
I am able to see details of a passing just by being given a name..
I was interested in cold cases.
I even registered the domain
http://www.coldcasepsyhcic.com
I ,however, asked my self one question.
Who is showing me these flashes of pictures.
I soon realized that it is not a gift.
Its is a con to take you away from GOD, so I stopped.
thanks
ericka
It seems that this case with Greg Wallace is more then about psychically finding a body and proving who killed this man.
This is about 2 past psychics and their background.
I am amazed that people will not use their own intuition here in this case.
It is clear the police know who killed Greg Wallace.
The law enforcement does not care about working por color or kind if they have no money, no status in the community.
The same goes for any town, “Old Money” is King.
I will come to your town and see that the file is re-opened.
I hope that I have perfect spelling as that is what matters, help this case to be solved.
Forget all the fighting and finger pointing.
Ms Lynn Maker was nice enough to come and help out.
Good karma for her in finding the body of Greg Wallace, that was a psychic talent displayed.
God bless you Ms. Maker
Love and light
Best soul
I have been a practicing psychic for years and I believe that a psychic gift is abotu the gift rather than about luck. I admit that some people are lucky when it comes to having a psychyic gift. However, many psychics can pick up names, dates and times. That is the stuff that really amazes me. Sometimes they can even pick up full conversations from the dead.
Jack, pick up the name of my grandmother and the date and time she died and I’ll be duly impressed. Or will that cost me $4 a minute?
I believe in psychic abilities and there’s no need to cut anyone down on the fact that they may be psychic. There has been people in the past who have done scams and things where they said they were psychic, but many people out there who are may tell a few things for no money at all. Also note that there’s different kinds of abilities. Some people can do things with names, some with times, the future itself, etc.
Lambic, your grandmother died in June 1984 and her name was something like Margot or Marie, maybe Margaret?
How good was that? I was going to share the joke with you cos some of what you said has be quite funny, but I thought “no, let’s test my own skills”.
Rate me out of 10 dude. Anything above 0 would be wild!!!!!!!!!!
I threw a few exclamations in for you, I know Lynn Would approve, ha ha.
Lynn,
Correct my spelling and grammatical errors in my last post and I’ll believe!!!!!
